These natural bamboo garden stakes are perfect for greenhouse starters and other small plants in need of a bit of support. Harvested from our chemical and pesticide free grove in Ohio, USA these stakes measure about 14 inches long. Each stake is a piece of split bamboo about 1/2 - 1 inch or so wide. We split them and do all the shaping with an old meat cleaver. We then heat treat each stake with open flame and burnish them with our orange oil and beeswax conditioner. This process sweats out the plants natural oils which harden into a protective shell and also drives out excess moisture and residual starches which attract insect damage. Heat treated stakes are more durable and have a considerably longer lifespan than those left untreated. Additionally, because bamboo is over 70% natural silica, years from now when it eventually decays it will enrich the soil.
