Your garden or patio is a beautiful earthy place! Why clutter it with plastic or metal gnomes, or mass manufactured plant id tags that scream at you, and advertise the fact that you can't keep track of your own plants! Our fun plant ID stakes are carefully hand-crafted in America from all natural bamboo grown in our chemical and pesticide free groves in Ohio. They are beautiful additions to your plant space balancing form and function into harmonious and useful little pieces of art.

This listing is for a three (3) or five (5) pack of assorted decor bamboo id stakes made to order, looking similar to, but not exactly like those pictured.

Each stake measures between 6 - 7 inches long. After a rough cut, the edges are carefully sanded by hand with medium grit, then with a fine grit. This process takes time but produces stakes that give a pleasant tactile sensory experience. In fact they are enjoyable to hold and work with. The front has been heat treated with open flame using various artistic pyrographic techniques and burnish with our bamboo conditioner. This process brings the natural oils to the surface which then harden into a shell, greatly improving longevity as well as just making them look cool. The back, which is the interior of the bamboo tube is left natural and is a perfect slate for a sharpie, allowing you to temporarily customize your plant id markers to your liking. Heck, write down Fred, Unknown, ?weed?, whatever you want... within reason. "My prize-winning begonia from the county fair" for instance will probably not fit. One might even just glue the tag that came with the plant in the back of the bamboo. There are a number of label sizes that one could print off and stick-on, using a bit of outdoor modge-poge or similar sealer to keep the label readable longer. Bamboo with nodes look great but are trickier to use for id.

We suggest putting them in at a slight angle backwards, protecting the underside from water. Bamboo is only grass, and if left in the elements long enough will eventually degrade. This is not all bad. For starters It's decomposition in soil is much slower than other organic stakes partially due to its extremely high silica content, which as it turns out becomes a powerful plant supplement adding this vital nutrient back into the soil if left to its own after years of neglect... garden decor that gives back!
