These unconventional Moon Blocks are based on the traditional Chinese Jiaobei, an important decision-making tool in gaining the deities / universe's advice, and work in the same way as any other moon blocks.

Many Americans may not have heard of moon blocks / Jiobei, but most of us have had a Magic 8-ball in our hands at some point in our life. These are in a similar vein, albeit a much more organic and elegant approach.

Holding the pair of Moon Blocks in your hands, focus on a yes / no question you’d like the gods to help you answer. Cast the Moon Blocks onto a hard flat surface, much like dice. They will arrange themselves and come to rest into 1 of 4 possible arrangements.
1. The Divine Answer: One up, one down. With balance there is harmony and the gods look favorably upon you- a YES answer.
2. The Angry Answer: both blocks face up. (convex with moon) The gods have darkened the skies and thrown up mountains in your way. Tread lightly!- a hard NO answer.
3. The Laughing Answer: Both blocks face down. (light concave, and the blocks wobble to a stop as if laughing). The gods are amused, either because your mind's already made up prior to consulting them, or it’s so clearly a NO answer that they are laughing directly at you for even asking. – A NO answer
4. The Busy Answer- blocks touching each other. The gods are either fighting… or making up. Either way, they are too busy with their own affairs to consider the request of mortals.- TRY AGAIN LATER.

A definitive answer to the question is determined once the Moon Blocks show the same answer at least twice in a row, thrice in a row if you want added security. Cast the Moon Blocks until you get an answer.

These moon blocks, harvested from our chemical and pesticide free grove in Ohio, USA, have been carefully sanded by hand and heat treated using various artistic open flame techniques featuring moons, then burnished with our conditioner, all of which provides both a rich visual appeal as well as a pleasant sensory tactile experience. Each pair is made to order and are about 6 inches or so in length.
