These sweet coasters would look killer in the man cave for serving up beers, or upstairs in the tea room under a flower vase or candle. Made from natural bamboo harvested from our chemical and pesticide free groves in Ohio, USA, these measure about 7 inches by 6 inches, using 4 half round pieces of bamboo held together with polypropelene twine, the same tough stuff I use on wind chimes, and has been heat sealed so it will never come untied. It's lightweight and durable but has a melting point of around 360 degrees Fahrenheit, so a hot dish pulled from a 450 degree oven and plunked on top, would likely melt the strings, but boiling water is no issue.

I heat treat each piece using various artistic open flame techniques, which not only brings out their unique personalities, but aids in protecting the bamboo from water, UV, and insect damage. The string is threaded in such a way that the whole set kind of flops apart and rolls up in your hand when picked up. A wee bit of finagglin' may be required to get it back into flat tabletop mode.
