"Bamboo Juice" conditions and restores our handmade bamboo products. We use it in the original crafting of most of the items in our shop and recommend it to restore the luster of old tired-looking bamboo. This Bamboo Conditioner and Restorer provides the key benefit of improved longevity for your bamboo items, as well as breathing new life into faded art from the visual contrast created with our open flame techniques.

Bamboo is known for it's legendary strength and resiliency, though once harvested it comes with a few vulnerabilities. It's essentially a hollow tube, which gives it an incredible strength to weight ratio. Once cut and cured however, the cellular structure previously used for transporting water and nutrients becomes essentially a dry sponge that responds to the humidity levels in it's environment by either sucking in moisture or expelling it. If done slowly the structure adjusts and keeps up with the constant transfers of moisture. However rapid changes in humidity or constant exposure to the elements will lead to severe expansion or contraction in the tube structure which can cause longitudinal cracks to form along the exterior of the tube, often leading to full splitting of entire pieces of bamboo.

Our Bamboo Conditioner and Restorer protects against these humidity variations as well as helps to prevent further drying and fading of finishes due to sun exposure. Crafted with primarily a mix of beeswax, orange oil, and a UV inhibitor, working about a half ounce of this into a set of wind chimes will really bring it back to life!

DIRECTIONS
For use on all our products except kitchen utensils, which we recommend butcher block oil or other conditioner labeled “Food Safe”. This product does contain small amounts of mineral spirits, which can be flammable.

Using a soft cloth or towel slowly work dabs of the conditioner into the surface of the bamboo, paying close attention to any open end grains, making sure the oil/wax is being absorbed. Allow it to sit a few minutes before giving it a final light rub down with a cleaner corner of the cloth. For wind chimes take care not to tug on the pipes as this can pop them off their strings.
