Wind chimes connect humans directly to nature in real time, particularly our all-natural bamboo wind chime sets! Considering it's only made of hollow grass, the life expectancy of treated bamboo can be remarkable robust. To craft our wind chimes, we use polypro twine, strong for it's size yet light enough not to impede on performance. When heat sealed, the knots will never come undone. They dance wonderfully in the wind and rarely get tangled, however sometimes mother nature throws a bit more at them than normal, and during strong gusts at the end of rope, the sails can't hang on and the cord snaps.
I know of 3 or 4, out of the hundreds of wind chimes I've sold, that have had a sail ripped off during a storm. Like a boat who lost a sail... it just don't work as well! The donger can't do it's job of rattling around and without the weight, the loose end becomes wrapped and tangled in other strings. SO, I suspect there may be an occasional sail or two out there that needs replacing in order to bring it back to it's full potential.
ALL IS NOT LOST! For our wind chimes, we offer these replacement sails, ready and easy to tie on to your existing set. There is a heat sealed knot that holds each donger on. Slide the donger up, and cut off excess tail of the lost sail. Tie the new tail on the existing string just above the knot, adjusting the length so the sails sits comfortably below the pipes and not bump into the other sail. A well tied sail should perform fine. If you want to take the extra step to seal it, we use needle nose pliers and a lighter to carefully melt the loose tails and press them into the knot with the lighter. Be careful, molten polypro burns.
Sail replaced, back in action, ready to rock and roll, dance with the wind!

The cool thing is, these sails are mostly made from dead and cracked pieces of bamboo pulled from an older grove, stuff with lots of character that in almost all other cases has no value and is discarded. Very little goes to waste, and we find this stuff makes the best sails!
Give me a shout if you need any pipes replaced, sometimes they will eventually split and begin to sound a bit off, like a cracked bell. I offer pipe replacements as well, pre-strung and ready to install on the base.
