A delightful kinetic mobile made from 5 simple bamboo hoops! Each hoop is tied off independently, but onto the same cord, so there is a wonderful back and forth as they spin, their energies playing off of the others. The inner piece is cut longitudinally through a single bamboo culm. The outer 4 are made from untreated bamboo strips about a half inch wide, bent into hoops and held together with small zip ties, the largest being about 16 inches across. The hanging cord is the same lightweight and durable stuff we use for our wind chimes, with heat sealed knots so it will never come untied.
A humble yet very effective design featuring bamboo harvested from our herbicide and pesticide free groves in Ohio, USA. Super cool!
