A good bamboo wind chime takes you on vacation! Unpretentious, yet somehow exotic. The base, the pipes, the dongers and the sails are all carefully hand-crafted from bamboo harvested from our chemical and pesticide free grove in Ohio, USA. Polypropylene braided twine makes it all function, and once the knots are heat sealed, this set of wind chimes will outlast and outperform the imports. Plus it just looks cool. Nothing fancy, no coconut shells or pink flamingos, just a well crafted set of wind chimes, made from all-natural American grass!

After trying a slew of various designs for bamboo wind chimes, I landed on this as my Signature Style. It has been a time proven performer! They each have their own unique wonderful sounds as they dance with the wind, carefully curated to produce a chorus of "tonks" and "tinks" (the earth and the rain) that are harmoniously soothing and grounding. Another reviewer described the sound of the black and white animated skeletons. This design is nearly impossible to get super tangled up, it doesn’t require much room, it looks and functions great, and with a bit of care should last years. A very thoughtful wedding or housewarming gift, or a nice way to treat yourself to a little vacation everyday!

In the realm of bamboo wind chimes, I would classify these sets as medium size. The pipes on these chimes are generally .75 - 1.5 inches in diameter, anywhere from about 6-12 inches long, and a height from the hanging point to the lowest sail of maybe 25-35 inches, give or take a few inches. Honestly, it just depends on the bamboo, I've learned to let it tell me what it wants to be, not the other way around! Typically I'll get that "wild hair" and add a small wood burned dragonfly or flower or mountain scene or tribal band or artsy design or some such thing. If you have something specific in mind, let me know I may be able to incorporate it into the design! The fact is, your set of bamboo wind chimes will be bespoke, no two ever look or sound exactly the same. Rest assured, your set will look and function as good as, and probably much better than any other bamboo wind chimes out there.

I use various open flame artistic techniques to heat treat each piece, and hot burnish with our bamboo conditioner. The plants natural oils rise to the surface, which once burnished, harden into a protective shell. Additionally this process reduces the moisture and starches which attract insect damage, and gives our chimes that one-of-a-kind look. Bamboo crafting is not a perfect art, each product is unique, and just like people come in different sizes and different shades, with different songs they like to sing. Sure there are some quirks, some bumps and bruises gained along the way, but there is also a readiness to celebrate life on earth and dance with the wind!

Your wind chime will look nicer, longer, if care is taken to hang the chime OUT of direct weather. Hanging your wind chime under a deep eave or awning will highly increase the chances of a longer lived, better looking bamboo wind chime! A periodic rub down with an oil /wax wood feeder or our Bamboo Conditioner will rejuvenate the look and durability of your wind chimes. Replacement parts available!
