These sturdy and beautiful bamboo trellises are perfect for an award winning potted plant or orchid, or just to spruce up the back porch oasis! Each one is carefully hand-crafted using natural bamboo from our chemical and pesticide free grove in Ohio, USA. In addition to their primary function as plant supports, these trellis add some natural beauty and harmony to the garden that is rare these days, and have been designed and crafted by hand to outlast and out-perform similar products.

Bamboo gains much of it's strength from it's nodes, a woody membrane in an otherwise hollow tube. So the points of our trellis are cut adjacent to a node, and the tops / ends are also cut adjacent to a node. Thus we utilize bamboo's natural strong points while minimizing open ended tubes that harbor insects, water damage and rot. This takes time as not every piece of bamboo has sections that are near nodes that match the size requirements. However the final product is less prone to splitting and water damage than big box import, mass produced bamboo stakes, cut to size regardless.

Additionally we use various artistic open flame techniques to heat treat every piece, which drives out moisture and starches that attract insect damage, as well as bring the plants natural oils to the surface, which when burnished, harden into a shiny protective shell. As a bonus, this process gives them a bit of unique visual appeal. Occasional rubbing with an oil / was wood feed or condition will help revive tired looking bamboo and add to it's longevity. Again, big box bamboo will not have been treated in the same way, likely having undergone either a borax or harsh chemical bath to aid in preventing insect damage.

The bottom of each trellis will be around 5 inches wide, give or take an inch, so that it will fit comfortably in an 8, 10, 12 inch or bigger pot. The crown of each trellis spreads to around 17 inches, give or take an inch or so. The total height of the the trellis from the top to the points will be about 26 inches, so figure maybe 18-22 inches of above ground support. Zip ties are crossed and trimmed at the main intersections, with additional horizontal bars friction compressed with zip ties for added dimensional support. This makes for a super solid trellis with just a wee bit of play in it, to settle into it's new home, ready to offer it's services for years to come.

Bamboo by it's very nature is imperfect, no two pieces are alike, each with it's own bends and nicks and patterns, that in the end give each piece it's own unique character and personality... much like people!
